The Transportation Safety Board has found a combination of rail wear and track conditions contributed to the derailment of a CN freight train near Edmundston last year.

The board’s report yesterday into the derailment of 35 cars and one locomotive says it’s fortunate 20 of the tank cars only carried residue and not full loads of oil.
