Surplus, so far, in police budget
There’s black ink at One Peel Plaza….but it may not last.
So far this year, the Telegraph-Journal reports the Police Department is under budget by 4.3% or almost $670,000, mainly because of salaries and wages. Chief John Bates told the Board of Police Commissioners, however, that surplus may not be there at the end of the fiscal year. It does not factor in a wage settlement in a new contract which was budgeted for but not yet in effect.
