SJ woman trying to rescue pittbulls
A Saint John woman is trying to save as many pittbulls from Montreal as she can because of their uncertain future there, since that city banned the breed.
The Telegraph-Journal reports Shawn Justason Carhart, co-director of Transporters Without Borders, is hoping to save at least 200 of the dogs c urrently in shelters, fearing they may be euthenized. She and a partner in Connecticut, have been rescuing dogs in the U.S. and Canada for the last four years.
Justason Carhart says she’s had the biggest response so far from the Saint John area but they are also getting offers of heklp from elsewhere in the Maritimes and Maine.
