Federal funding to develop drugs for rare diseases
Ottawa is putting $3 million into making Dalhousie University a hub of research and development into rare diseases.
The money will go to a project aimed at heling people historically left with drug treatments by drug companies because of the small jhnumbers involved. Dal will work with other partners to develop three biotechnology start-ups to get new drug treatments to the market for inherited childhood diseases, including the inherited form of Parkinson’s, and muscular dystrophies.
