Dispute over free tuitions at private colleges

Tensions are growing between the Gallant Government and private colleges in the province.

They complained when the government announced free tuitions for lower income students at public-funded post secondary institutions. They wanted part of it.

Now the Telegraph-Journal reports the minister responsible, Donald Arsenault, says the government will be overhauling the legislation covering private colleges and universities and how they are run.  He calls the current legislation old and antiquated.  Arsenault says he met with the association representing about 25 colleges and told them if they want some of the free tuition money they need to abide by some of the same rules as public-funded universities. He said they were hesitant about that.
