Salmon money

Ottawa is putting up $660,000 to help researchers figure out where and why salmon are dying.

The Times and Transcript reports Acadie-Bathurst MP Serge Cormier, made the announcement on behalf of Fisheries Minister Dominic Leblanc, saying some of the money will go to the new Atlantic Salmon Research Joint Venture. Returning salmon numbers have dropped drastically along the Miramich…which accounts for about 20% of salmon production in North America.
