Tusk smuggling Saint Johner convicted
A former Mounty from Saint John has been convicted in Bangor of money laundering in connection with a scheme to smuggle Narwhal tusks into the U-S, according to the Telegraph-Journal.
59 year old Gregory Logan pleaded guilty earlier here to wildlife smuggling charges and terms of his extradition to the U-S meant he was only charged with money laundering there. He pleaded guilty to 10 counts. He’ll be sentenced later and faces up to 20 years in prison and a $500,000 fine on each count.
250 tusks valued between $1.5 million and $3 million were smuggled into Maine in false compartments in his vehicle.
