Battle of Britain commemoration
Yesterday’s rain didn’t stop people from showing up at Barrack Green Armouries to mark the Battle of Britain. The 76th annual service was moved from its original location at King’s Square this year. A parade and service were also held at CFB Gagetown.
The lengthy battle was fought inthe summer of 1940 when Spitfires and Hurricanes stopped the Luftwaffe from bombing England into surrendering. 24 of the 94 Canadian pilots involved in the battle were killed.
