Tax talk at Common Council
There was tax rate talk at Common Council last night even though they won’t really get into budget deliberations until later in the fall.
The Telegraph-Journal reports Council held a special meeting to discuss priorities and some councillors were anxious to look at cutting the tax rate. But they were told the city can’t afford to lose any revenue.
Mayor Don Darling said recent public consultations showed Saint Johners have other priorities including economic development, developing the waterfront and poverty reduction.
