A-G vs Gov’t

The provincial Auditor-General is going way over budget to complete an audit of the ATCON group of companies in Miramcihi that failed after getting millions of dollars from a previous Liberal government.

Kim MacPherson has informed the government her office will go about $400,000 over budget to complete the audit.  The Speaker of the legislature told her she was not authorized to spend that money but it’s unclear if the government can stop her.

MacPherson told the Telegraph-Journal she hasn’t been told to come in and explain herself yet. MacPherson issued a scathing review of the Atcon bankruptcy earlier concluding the former Shawn Graham Liberal government showed a very troubling disregard for taxpayers’ money despite warnings.
