The National Energy Board has cited what it calls the “apprehension of bias” in dropping all three reviewers for the Energy East pipeline.

The Calgary-based regulator made the move after complaints that two of the reviewers met with a consultant for TransCanada last year.

Media reports this summer revealed the two met with former Quebec premier Jean Charest, who was then working for the energy giant.

Late last month, the N-E-B suspended hearings into the proposed 45-hundred-kilometre oil pipeline.
