Big drug trial
Closing arguments have wrapped up in the first high-profile J-tornado drug trial.
Defence lawyers for Joshua Kindred of Saint John and Shane Williams of Smithtown attacked the credibility of the Crown’s key witness. Williams and Kindred were among 28 people arrested as part of the 2014 police investigation into drug trafficking.
Justice William Grant will now weigh the evidence and deliver his verdict September 19. If the verdict is guilty, both crown and defence lawyers agreed there will have to be a hearing into whether the case involved entrapment.
