NB Power changing spraying rules

NB Power is changing the way it gets rid of vegetation near its main transmission lines.

There are new rules to ensure people don’t get sprayed with the chemicals. Last year residents in Wirral complained NB Power sprayed a herbicide near their properties and on blueberry patches.

The Telegraph-Journal reports NB Power President Gaetan Thomas told a legislature committee most of the spraying is done deep in the woods away from populated areas. However, the utility will be expanding the spray-free zone to 150 metres from properties instead of 15 metres.
